Yoohoo, stop what you’re doing. A new treatment has come to the Netherlands, which all of Hollywood has been a fan of for years. It concerns the so-called Juvenus treatment, or PDRN, which ensures more collagen and thus a tighter skin. I asked Croma Pharma, who markets this product, about this promising innovative treatment. Read on quick!
What does a Juvenus treatment do?
Injecting Juvenus triggers a whole chain of actions in the skin. This provides an antioxidant effect (damaging free radicals are captured) and an increased collagen and elastin production, which in turn ensures a hydrated and firmer skin.
For which indications is this treatment suitable?
Juvenus is suitable for skin improvement and skin rejuvenation of the face and body. It is ideal for treating dehydrated skin with wrinkles, signs of photoaging and loss of elasticity. Due to its tissue-repairing capacity, the product can also be used as a treatment for ‘young’ scarred skin. Areas to be treated include: the face, tops of the hands, décolleté, abdomen, thighs and buttocks. It can therefore be used in several places.
How does a treatment work?
With a very thin needle, a series of injections is made in the area to be treated. These injections are not painful, just a little sensitive. After the treatment, the skin may be slightly red and bumps may appear at the site of the injections. These bumps will disappear on their own within a few days. The build-up phase of the treatment should be repeated three times for optimal results. The treatments take place with an interval of approximately 3 weeks.
What is the difference with other anti-wrinkle treatments?
With a botulinum toxin treatment, for example, the activity of the muscle is paralyzed, with a filler you ensure that the skin is better hydrated by means of hyaluronic acid and that you can compensate for volume loss through the filling capacity of hyaluronic acid.
However, Juvenus is even more effective. It works on 3 levels: deep hydration, antioxidant effect and growth of the so-called fibroblasts. Juvenus gives a signal to specific cells in your skin that have become less active due to age, external factors or lifestyle. These cells get a boost and start working extra hard again. Because of this boost and the antioxidant effect, you get the perfect environment for your cells and you see an increase in the production of collagen and elastin.
What is the result after a treatment and how long does it last?
The result is deeply hydrated, supple, more even and firmer skin and a reduction in fine lines and/or wrinkles.
A series of at least 3 treatments is recommended (with about 3 to 4 weeks between each treatment), after which you can suffice with increasingly longer intervals of months. You activate and stimulate the regenerative capacity of your own skin, so which intervals lead to optimal results depends on several factors that contribute to the duration of the effect, such as lifestyle, exercise, exposure to sunlight, etc.
Is a Juvenus treatment safe?
First of all, the product naturally has a CE mark. This biorevitalization treatment gives a ‘kickstart’ to your own cells; it puts your body’s own cells to work, so no product remains in your skin/body.
Scientific studies have been done demonstrating the stimulation of tissue repair and the anti-inflammatory properties of PDRN. Treatment with a PDRN-Injectable falls under a medical cosmetic procedure. We therefore recommend that you only undergo this treatment by a qualified and authorized doctor.
What does it cost?
The price varies per clinic, but it is comparable to a filler treatment or other skin boosters. Think of 150-250 Euro per treatment.
