EMERGINC VITAMIN C SERUM | REVIEW

Emerginc Vitamin C serum is not just any vitamin C serum. It is a super dosed serum with vitamin C forms that really work. Very important because vitamin C is indispensable for healthy skin. I recently tested this vitamin C serum from EmerginC. Read on for my findings!

Vitamin C

Not every lady still has a bottle on the sink with vitamin C. A missed opportunity, because vitamin C is one of your best friends when it comes to anti-aging. It neutralizes free radicals caused by sunlight or air pollution. This limits the damage these radicals can do to your skin. It also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. This duo ensures the firmness and flexibility of your skin, so nice if you want to keep everything in (or out?) the fold. It also helps great against unsightly pigmentation spots. In short, vitamin C is an absolute must if you want to maintain beautiful skin.

EmerginC Vitamin C Serum

I was previously introduced to this fine American brand during a facial treatment at Beauty Conscious. I liked this so much that I also wanted to try their bestseller: the vitamin C serum. This serum is available in 12% and 20%. A high percentage is important, because vitamin C can only do its job if the dose is higher than 4%. In addition, EmerginC only uses the forms of vitamin C that can really penetrate the skin to do their good work there. These types are: sodium ascorbyl phosphate, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate and ascorbyl palmitate.

Stability of Vitamin C

Not only the form of vitamin C is important, it must also be ensured that the miracle substance remains stable. Vitamin C does not tolerate air and light well, then it becomes inactive. In fact, this can even create harmful oxygen radicals, which are more likely to cause skin aging. Brrr……. It is therefore important that the stability of vitamin C is guaranteed in a product. EmerginC does this by using an airtight vial. In addition, the vitamin C is packaged in airtight capsules that only break when you use the bottle. This way, the effectiveness of the vitamin C is not affected and no oxidation (damaging to the skin) can occur. I do notice that the packaging of the serum is transparent. I asked Silke van der Laan, who is responsible for the distribution of EmerginC, whether this could influence the effect of the serum.

Silke: EmerginC uses the so-called ‘active ingredient encapsulation system’, in which the active ingredients are trapped in the bubbles you see. These break in the pump and so you get the freshest possible, non-oxidized vitamin C, in the form of, among other things, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (this is the best absorbable vitamin C that gives the best results). Because glass does not give off small plastic particles like plastic bottles and the glass is matte, the rest of the product remains sufficiently protected. I do recommend that you do not store the product in a too warm place or in full sun, such as on a windowsill or near the light in your bathroom cabinet.

do you see the bubbles of vitamin C?

My experience with EmerginC vitamin C serum

Since I have been using products with a high vitamin C percentage for some time, I immediately tested the version with 20% of EmerginC. I use it in the morning, first thing after cleansing my skin. The serum comes in a handy bottle with a pump. Pressing 1 or 2 times is sufficient at a time. The substance smells nice, but it does get a little sticky after applying. So you have to take this into account in connection with, for example, applying make-up. It also spreads easily and feels nice on your face. I’ve been using it for 2 months now and my skin responds well to it. This one is firm, blusher than before and I have minimal problems with pigmentation spots. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the addition of sweet orange extract in the formula. As far as I know, citrus fruits promote the photo-aging of the skin (aging under the influence of light) and that is precisely not the intention. I asked Silke how EmerginC sees this.

Silke: With many of these questions proponents and opponents are both somewhat right. If you put pure citrus oil on your skin, your skin would burn. This is certainly not recommended. But it is full of antioxidants, vitamin c, detoxifies, nourishes and improves the condition of the skin… In the right low dose it is a natural preservative that keeps your product well, with many benefits. Without putting a toxic burden on your skin, such as with chemical agents. So the secret is in the formula. I have met the people who are responsible for that at emerginC and was very impressed with how carefully this is done. But it is certainly not an ingredient I would experiment with myself!

Finally

A product with vitamin C is absolutely indispensable in the fight against skin aging (just like vitamin A and Niacinamide by the way). Would you like to try the high-dose vitamin C serum from EmerginC yourself? Then start with EmerginC Vitamin C Serum 12%, which contains 12% vitamin C. This allows your skin to get used to it slowly. You can later switch to EmerginC Vitamin C Serum 20%, the serum with (you guessed it) 20% vitamin C. The products are available online at www.indigocosmetics from € 78.95. Not cheap, but for that you get a serum that is effective and stable. Also not entirely unimportant, right?
