Can You Use a Derma Roller During Pregnancy?

People are naturally keen to find out if they can continue to use skin needling for anti-aging and other treatments, but by far the main interest during pregnancy is in treating and preventing stretch marks.

Additionally, you may be concerned about using metal derma rollers, especially those that contain nickel. For people concerned about this, we always recommend ordering a hypoallergenic Bioploymer Dermaroller

Of course, stretch marks are very common at this time as the abdomen expands, so this article mainly concerns stretch marks on the abdomen and thighs, but can also be applied to stretch marks on the breasts during pregnancy and after breastfeeding.

To begin with, dry needling is perfectly safe at any stage of pregnancy and breastfeeding. Dry needling uses a derma roller without applying any other products to the skin (lotions, creams, etc.).

This is a great way to reduce the appearance of stretch marks once they appear. If you’re able to treat the stretch marks when they’re red instead of later when they’re turning white, you’ll usually get quicker results.

This is also a fantastic way to give your skin a quick recovery after childbirth and help skin tighten faster.

Since most of these stretch marks are on the thighs and stomach and are usually quite thick, we recommend a 1.0mm dermaroller. You can use your existing 0.5mm if you have one, but results may be a bit slower.

Treatments should be spaced 2 weeks apart for best effect, with a minimum of 6 treatments. As with all skin needling, it takes a full 3-6 months for the full effect of the treatment to be seen.

Caesarean section scars deserve special mention here. These can be treated very effectively but we do recommend that you let your doctor know as although the outer skin may have healed there may still be some internal damage and it is best to ensure you are fully medically cured , before you focus on cosmetics treatment.

We are often asked why we do not recommend the use of Anti-Aging serums during pregnancy when they are such safe natural products? The reason is simple, although all of our serums are organic and indeed safe to take orally, they have not undergone a separate Level 3 clinical study.

For a drug to be considered safe for use in pregnant women, it must have undergone a large clinical trial (at least 3,000 people) conducted exclusively on pregnant women. Although it is difficult to argue that our serums are medicines, skin needling is actually a common method of administering medicinal substances. For this reason, we play it safe and advise against using products with microneedling during pregnancy.

It’s worth noting here that despite some claims we see on other websites, there is of course no skin needling serum or cream on the market that has gone through this type of clinical trials on pregnant women, so all claims, It was completely safe to be viewed with extreme caution.

Babies are too precious!

Post childbirth and the end of breastfeeding is the best time to really get into those stretch marks and improve their appearance with the right serums. The Anti-Aging stretch mark wrap is ideal to help you at this stage.

We hope this article will be of use to those who are planning to or who are currently pregnant.
